The Leagues are small! Only 12 teams per Keeper League, 16 in each HR*Plus League, and 20 in each HomeRun League
Each team drafts real major league players to fill their team roster and accumulates points from these players' performances each week as determined by the team owner's choice of starting players.
Each team is allowed the opportunity to manage their starting line-up on a 24 hr basis.
Head-to-head competition among all teams within a League during a pre-defined regular season. The resulting win/loss records are used to determine play-off qualification.
Each League includes multi-round play-offs for the top finishers from the regular season.
No two teams within a given League will ever have the same player. Each team is unique.
WANNABE Sports computes the results from each week's competition and provides them and daily score updates online along with updated stats and transaction information.
Waivers allowed at no extra cost in ALL Leagues
Trades allowed at no extra cost in HR*Plus and Grand-Slam Leagues
WANNABE points are distributed as prizes in KEEPER Leagues and are redeemable for future franchise fees as well as items in the modest WANNABE Sports Store.
No two teams within the same league will ever have the same players.
Draft order based on previous season's record (random in initial season of a new League).
Each week prior to noon Monday, each team will submit a line-up consisting of:
3 Starting Pitchers (SP)
1 Relief Pitchers (RP)
1 Catcher (C)
1 First Base (1B)
1 Second Base (2B)
1 Third Base (3B)
1 Short Stop (SS)
3 Outfielders (OF)
...from their team's roster or use the line-up from the previous week.
Based on a predetermined schedule, in weeks 1-19, each team competes against another team within the league to compile a regular season win/loss record used for play-off rankings.
Play-offs are bracketed in each division with #1 in each division receiving a bye in the first round. Each Division Champ then meets in the final game to decide the League Champion.

Originally, a typical fantasy league was comprised of owners who lived in the same city or geographical area. The convenience of such close proximity allowed the owners to get together and conduct a live draft to fill the rosters of their fantasy teams. One by one, each team owner would select a player. The order of selections was predetermined. Each participant was present to hear who was previously selected and able to anticipate their next selection. Obviously, it presents problems attempting to unite owners from around the country (maybe even the world) in any one physical location just to hold a fantasy draft. But NOW with WANNABE Sports' NEW browser-based Fantasy DRAFT INTERFACE and the connectivity of the internet, a real-time draft in a simple interface is possible! WANNABE Sports still supports 'chat' as a forum for owners to gather during the draft to discuss issues and as an emergency back-up to the WANNABE Fantasy DRAFT ENGINE. But the real action is now in your browser on draft day.
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Team owners log-in to the WANNABE Fantasy DRAFT using their name and password. This area opens into four frames used to manage your teams draft. The Fantasy DRAFT INTERFACE is accessible both during and before the draft. It is essentially a list based system and a list of any length can be prepared prior to the actual draft for emergency purposes or as an aide. Each owner decides the best utilization of the options provided and every owner is afforded the same options. Ideally, each team logs in immediately prior to the draft. The team with pick #1 will place (at least) one name in their list before the first minute of the draft elapses. Exactly 1 minute after the draft begins, the player listed (or the first player in that list) is selected for that team. One frame of the draft area updates automatically and indicates the current pick number relative to system time, which is also displayed in that frame. Other frames update only when you initiate an action or request by clicking the available buttons. In turn, as decided by the draft order, each team has 1 minute to position the name of a player on their list (or at the TOP of the list) from which their selection will be made. Picks are made from a default list any time a team's list contains no valid name. Other frames in the draft area display the player selection options(by name), a choice of the draft so far, your roster so far, or all the saved players, and a frame displaying your current list with additional editing options.
--Keep in mind there are more than 250 total picks in the typical draft. Each is active for one minute. So, the complete draft requires the same number of minutes as there are picks. A baseball league draft with 20 rounds lasts 4 hours and 40 minutes. The ability to compile a long list will help when unforseen difficulties arise which can make it difficult to dedicate as much as 5 hours of attention to the typical draft. CAUTION: Owners must maintain their own
list or selections will be made for the team from the default list.

All 'live' WANNABE Sports drafts are held in the WANNABE Fantasy DRAFT Interface.
Mock (practice) drafts are held in the weeks prior to the first real draft
to introduce team owners and allow everyone an opportunity to become
more familliar with the WANNABE Fantasy DRAFT Interface and chat enviornment before the crucial visit on draft day. The schedule for mock drafts is linked from the Fantasy Calendar link in each League and typically linked from the WANNABE Sports Main Page when new sessions are available. Each owner is responsable for requesting a place in at least one scheduled mock draft. Each Mock draft has only 14 spots and REQUESTS ARE HONORED on a FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVE basis. When the Commissioner is present in any WANNABE chat room(s), look for a nickname (or handle) usually in the form of W_Commish or Commish_W
Team Owners should use their team name, or a form of it as their
nickname (handle) while in a WANNABE chat session.
WHAT
The WANNABE Fantasy DRAFT Interface - a simple and effective, browser-based method for following the draft in real-time and submitting your team's selections (picks). The interface also includes links to help information relative to it's various parts. This info combined with the mock drafts allow everyone opportunity to understand the process before draft day.
WHEN
The Official Grand-Slam Drafts and Mock Drafts are usually scheduled in January or February. Official Drafts are usually scheduled for the last weekend in March and the Mock Drafts are typically scheduled for the week or two weeks prior to Official Drafts.
Owners should plan to attend at least one Mock Draft to familiarize themselves with the WANNABE DRAFT ENGINE. Potential owners are also welcome to request a slot in a scheduled Mock Draft. Meet the Commissioner and some of the owners in a chat and see if WANNABE Sports is for you. If you experience difficulties or have a question, feel free to e-mail the Commissioner.
Seasonal Online DRAFT Info (HR*Plus Leagues)
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Team owners can log-in to the Fantasy DRAFT from the League Home Page. The Fantasy DRAFT INTERFACE is accessible both during and before the draft. It is a live system that allows each team their pick, in order. But it also has automatic features that allow you to compile a list and let the DRAFT INTERFACE make the selections. Ideally, each team logs in immediately after receiving email notification of their turn. The team with pick #1 will make a selection and the DRAFT INTERFACE will email the owner of the team with pick #2. As each team makes a pick, the next team in the order is emailed with notification of their turn. A 12 hour time limit is imposed and any team failing to meet the deadline or consistently holding up the process with long waits WILL BE SET TO AUTOMATIC FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DRAFT! It is expected each team will respond as quickly as possible when their turn comes up in each round. Provided they do, the draft goes quickly and smoothly. But a 12 DAY limit is imposed on the full draft. Any HR*Plus draft not finished by midnight of the 12th day becomes a list-draft using the lists in place for all teams to select the remaining picks in that draft.
--Keep in mind there are nearly 250 total picks in the typical draft. If slow-pokes hold up the natural progress, finishing from lists becomes a definite possibility. The ability to compile a long list is available throughout the draft and a warning will be issued if/when a draft is about to require lists. CAUTION: Owners must maintain their own list when necessary or selections will be made for the team from a default list.

2007 DRAFT DATES
ALL HR*Plus Leagues:

This method involves each team maintaining a list (using the on-line system) of available players, in order of preference, for each round of the draft. The form will aid in determining the remaining available players between rounds as well as the number of players needed for each day's round. After the deadline for the each round, the System proceeds in order of the draft to select from each team's list the highest listed player still available.
In order to avoid conflicts with everyones' daily routines, this takes place only once per day. Each day, lists are final at 6:00am Eastern Time and the results of the round are updated by 7am ET. (During the up to 1 hour between deadline and results, the system will not accept list changes to help you prevent listing players for the next round that will be selected in the current round.)
If a team fails to maintain a list, resulting in no selections for a given round, the System will make a selection for the team using the best means available. CAUTION: Failure to provide two or more consecutive picks (without explanation), may result in loss of ownership.
